Tobacco use is something close to my family as the majority of my father's side use or have used tobacco. When my father was 16, his father passed away due to lung cancer caused by smoking and swore that he would never use tobacco and made it clear that smoking only did harm to your health. After joining the Hawaii Public Health Institute Youth Council in high school, I knew that I could make a change in my community by using my voice to advocate for the harmful products that had addicted my family.
